2016 events

A sneak peek at the proposed Calendar of events for 2016, for the club and our classic car friends across Scotland and wider afield.

Hopefully you will find all or some of the events a good reason to get your classic on the road and see a bit of Scotland.

We will add further events form other clubs as we hear of them with links to their Regs and Entry details.

The finalised Events list will be published later this year

 Sneak Peek at 2016 Events
Below is listed the first view of the 2016 events calendar, for the club and our classic car friends at Highland Car Club, and other clubs across Scotland. This may change as more information is gathered but a good start to plan your classic mortoring diary for next year.  




Monte Carlo Historique Start - 27 January
Paisley Abbey is once again to be the start for the 2016 Monte Carlo Historique Rally Scottish start. With the addition of the Classique and more Heritage Runs this promises to be a bumper event. A new organising team, is supported by its own website where you will find all information and news www.monte.scot


Ecosse - Reims   Starting on the evening of Wednesday 27th of January 2016, immediately after the Historique competitors, the Ecosse-Reims Run will follow the traditional Monte Route down through Scotland, England and the north of France, arriving in Reims to see the regroup set off on their rally to Monaco. Regs and Entry Form now available  

Ecosse - Monte Carlo
Pete Gibson from Capri Club Scotland is also organising a run from Glasgow all the way to Monte Carlo, alongside the Monte Carlo Historique in January. He is very happy to have non Capri classic owners join the event.

Galloway Gallop  - 3 April
We have opened our season on the west coast, east coast, so now we head down into the Galloway hills for a drive through the borders of Scotland. Those on last years Rally of the Borders will recall the great roads covered. Well there are many more where they came from. around 140 miles through great countryside, over little known roads.
Tour of the Firths  - 16 April
Following the highly successful Tour of the Lochs in 2015 Highland Car Club have announced the Tour of the Firths for 2016. A 150 mile tour taking you from Inverness on to the Black Isle and toward Easter Ross. Starts and finishes at Fairways Inverness. Full details nearer the time. 
The Tour of the Grampians  - 8 May
A change of scenery from the Ochils in 2015 to the Grampians in 2016. Organiser George Shand has been busy putting together a great 160 mile run with a good mix of tight twisty roads mixed with some good flowing sections to suit all styles of driving. Starts at Pitlochry Theatre so handy for those north, south, east and west.  


Ecosse Challenge -  4 & 5 June
A new style for our June event. A mix of great driving roads, optional tests, and simple regularities, to bring a little variety into the weekend. To start and finish near the Scotland / England border making this attractive to our classic car friends south of the border.  
Strathmore Classic Car Tour -  26 June
Rotary Club of Forfar 120 mile classic car tour around the  
glens, countryside and coastline of Angus. Start in Forfar and finish at Glamis Castle for High Tea and presentations. No entry fee but each vehicle crew expected to provide charitable sponsorship of at least £50 for the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.  Regs and Entry Form

Classic Autosports BBQ - Saturday 9 July
David Barnett of Classic Autosports will once again put on his annual BBQ to welcome Classic Car owners and enthusiasts, at his Inverkeilor workshops to visit the fascinating world of Classic Car restoration. Enjoy the BBQ supper and the banter amongst like minded classic car enthusiasts, while you see some of the cars being restored and rebuilt. You never know you might just find a car that you have always wanted. Starts 12 noon until late. Same weekend as the Glamis Extravaganza, so why not see both.
August Amble -  21 August
Heading for the Angus countryside to find more hidden gems is the challenge for the second running of the August Amble. The organising team are exploring new routes to surprise the entrants, be they first time, or doing it again. 
Crofterra Pandemonia   -   3 & 4 September
Your club will once again support this ever popular event from Highland Car Club in the classic calendar. Two day touring event for Classic, Historic, Sports & GT cars.

One of the best tours of the highlands of Scotland you can find, put together by people who live there, and know all the best roads like the back of their hands.  Open to all enthusiasts.
Rally of the Borders  -   2 October
An opportunity to have a last 140 mile blast around the border roads over little known and quiet lanes. Once again this will be aimed at those tempted out in their classic, or modern car, for the first time on a motor sporting event. With a really low entry price this is one event you must not miss. 
North Coast 500 Classic  -   14 to 16 October
A new event for pre and post war cars. Working with the North Coast 500 Initiative team this competitive event will take crews along the new north coast 500 mile route around Scotland. Starts and finishes in Inverness. 
The Caledonian 200  -   19 & 20 November
An old-school winter road rally taking elements from rallies of the fifties and sixties. Intended mainly for historic road rally cars, but with classes for modern vehicles. In the spirit of these events this rally will be held at night with all the winter hazards, such as snow, ice, fog, rain etc. The rally will require navigational and driving skill, timekeeping, teamwork and stamina. Classic High Tea  -  4  December
End of the touring year for members to get together to chat about their year of classic motoring, and what is hasppening next year, at the Royal George Hotel in Perth.
