Saturday 5th October - Menton - Nuit du Mentonnais After
the exhilirating 1000 mile plus drive arounf the Mille Miglia route and
the trip back to Menton in France, the crews were beginning to tire.
The celebrations on arrival meant a long lie in for some crews. After
breakfast some decided that a trip to Monte Carlo, just along the
coast, was in order to see the sights and perhaps drive the F1 track
route. thers took time to admire the view from their balcony or go for
a walk round Menton. After
lunch the cars gathered for the Nuit du Mentonnais, a tour for classic
cars that ly routes up into Maritime Alps towards the Turini and
calling in at places we visited on the way over from Florence, such as
Sospel and Castillon. A
fair range of cars, though mostly 1980's vintage, with a bit of added
oomph under the bonnet to make the steep climbs more interesting. Thisd
Ranaul alpine will take the climbs in its stride as it did all
those years ago when it was a favourite on the monte Carlo Rallies.
Same cannot be said for the little Renaul Dauphine, which even in
Gordini guise needed plenty of pedalling to keep it going. After the event it was time for dinner before our final night of the event. Sunday 6th October - Menton - Home The
final morning when we say our goodbyes. Each of the crews have worked
out their return trips to the UK. Some will head straight up towards
Troyes before the final hop to board the ferry to England. Others
have decided to take a more casual route and take in more of the sights
in France. Everyone
thought it was a great route and are already looking forward to what
Trans ??? 2015 will look like. Thinking hats already on!
