One
of the big old vehicle shows in the Scottish calendar, ‘Farming
Yesteryear’ at Scone Palace, near Perth, attracts hundreds of
cars, tractors, commercials, steam engines, stationary engines and
military vehicles and a diverse range of stalls and auto-jumble. This
year a group of Club members decided to plan a CCHMSC stand for the
first time at this show.
Raymond
Rollo and David Heirs had the idea for a Club stand and, supported by
Ian Dixon and Maurice Millar, a deliberately varied selection of 20
cars was invited to highlight the range of cars that are suitable for
Club rally and touring events.
Under
a clear blue sky, great sunshine all day and the CCHMSC ‘START’ banner,
we had big cars (Humber Sceptre) and small cars (MG Midget); older cars (Austin A40 Farina) and newer cars (Ford RS2000); |

cars (Morgan Plus4) and saloon cars (Austin Maxi); rally cars (SAAB 96)
and road cars (Vauxhall Viva); shiny cars (Ford Capri) and not-so-shiny
cars.
Display of cars attracted visitors to the show.
The stand had a display of original Scottish Rally
reg’s from 1953 to 2012, borrowed from RSAC; video films showing
from various past events; and a range of club handouts and leaflets.
Six new members joined the Club at the show and we look forward to
meeting them again at Club events in future.
The CCHMSC stand
was judged to be the Best Car Club Stand and David and Raymond accepted
the award shield on behalf of the Club. In all, a grand day out for all
involved.
